Position Overview

As our R&D Data Analyst at Composite Integration, you’ll play a key role adding value to our company capability and to our customers goals.

You will capture, process, analyse, and present large volumes of data generated from internal R&D laboratory experiments and from Composite Integration machines deployed in customers’ factories across the globe.

About This Role

Due to expansion of our R&D facility and the ever-increasing technical ability and scope of our projects and machinery, we are seeking a R&D Data Analyst.

Location: Saltash, with flexibility for remote working
Hours: Permanent, part time or Full-Time, Monday to Friday

As our R&D Data Analyst at Composite Integration, you’ll play a key role adding value to our company capability and to our customers goals.
You will capture, process, analyse, and present large volumes of data generated from internal R&D laboratory experiments and from Composite Integration machines deployed in customers’ factories across the globe.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Data Capture & Management
    • Work closely with R&D and Technical Directors, R&D and Design Teams to understand data needs and project priorities.
    • Develop and maintain digital and manual raw data pipelines to collect large-scale, real-time data from customer-deployed machines and from internal R&D equipment and material experiments.
    • Collaborate with R&D Director and Design team engineers, including to improve data collection capability, as required.
    • Integrate raw data from multiple sources as required
    • Ensure accurate recording of data results using appropriate methodologies, systems and documentation.
    • Responsible for ensuring data quality, reliability, and traceability.
  • Data Analysis & Insight Development
    • Analyse process, machine and materials captured data as requested by the R&D and Technical Directors.
    • Use analytical techniques, perform statistical modelling and predictive analytics.
    • Translate findings and generate insights that demonstrate process, machine and material performance and capability as requested by the R&D and Technical Directors in clear and practical ways.
  • Visualisation & Communication
    • Create dashboards, reports and KPI’s suitable for customer/ commercial interpretation and for internal purposes that demonstrate process, machine and material performance and capability in formats that match customer specifications and as requested by the R&D and Technical Directors.
    • Responsible for presenting complex data in an accessible format.
    • Support customer and internal meetings with evidence-based insights
    • Responsible for data quality and consistency, ensuring all dashboards, reports and KPI’s are reliable and trusted.
  • General
    • Work with the Knowledge and Information Systems Manager to ensure all data is IP and copyright protected.
    • Support the R&D and Technical Directors complete client and internal project work.
    • Support lab operational and administration activities.
    • Support the improvements to internal processes and working practices.
    • Effective utilisation of the laboratory resources.
    • Comply with CI Health and Safety standards, procedures and guidelines.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a motivated Data Analyst who enjoys exploring data and communicating a narrative through numbers. You’ll thrive in this role if you’re good with numbers, statistics, data sets and are curious, practical, and can confidently communicate complex information in clear practical ways.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or similar.
• Strong proficiency in Excel, Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
• Experience turning data into insights through analysis and the use of Dashboards, reports and KPI’s
• Strong statistical and visualisation skills.
• Experience in data analysis within manufacturing, R&D, or industrial environments desirable.
• Experience with composite materials desirable, or a willingness to learn.
• Practical experience of working in a laboratory, particularly in materials science, process development or engineering environment desirable.
• Ability to complete accurate and concise reports of results.
• Excellent technical written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to comprehend technical documents.
• Strong team player, able and willing to actively contribute to project team.
• Awareness of good practice in terms of laboratory Health and Safety.
