Technical Sales Engineer

Customer-Success-Coordinator

Position Overview

Are you an experienced technical professional who enjoys working with customers, understanding technical challenges and developing practical solutions?

We’re looking for a Technical Sales Engineer to join our small, high-performing Business Development team.

This is a varied role at the centre of our business, combining customer engagement, technical sales, solution development, quotation and hands-on equipment knowledge.

You’ll work directly with customers to understand their applications and requirements, develop appropriate solutions and prepare commercial proposals, working closely with Engineering, Technical Services, R&D, Technical Development and other teams across the business.

We are looking for someone with at least 3 years’ experience in a customer-facing technical, engineering or industrial environment who is confident communicating with customers and has the technical ability to understand their requirements and develop the right solution.

About This Role

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Location: Saltash, with occasional UK and international travel
Hours: Permanent, Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

What will you be doing?

You’ll be involved throughout the customer journey, from the initial enquiry through to quotation, order, equipment demonstration and commissioning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Speaking directly with customers to understand their applications, processes and technical requirements.
  • Managing technical enquiries and developing them into commercially viable opportunities.
  • Producing product costings from Bills of Materials.
  • Preparing quotations for standard equipment.
  • Developing quotations and solutions for non-standard and bespoke equipment.
  • Working with Engineering and technical teams to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Creating CAD-based process diagrams and technical proposals to demonstrate equipment capability.
  • Supporting spare parts quotations and sales order processing.
  • Identifying opportunities for additional equipment, products and services.
  • Developing a strong practical understanding of our equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Carrying out customer equipment demonstrations.
  • Supporting or carrying out commissioning of standard equipment.

You’ll be expected to take ownership of your opportunities, manage competing priorities and ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and communicated throughout the business.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a customer-facing technical professional with a strong technical background and the confidence to deal directly with customers.

You may already work in technical sales, sales engineering or applications engineering. Alternatively, you may be an experienced engineer or technical specialist who has significant customer interaction and is looking to develop further into a commercial role.

Previous technical sales experience is an advantage, but it is not essential.

What is essential is that you have:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a customer-facing technical, engineering or industrial environment.
  • Confidence communicating directly with customers and building professional relationships.
  • Strong technical understanding and the ability to get to the root of a customer’s requirements.
  • The ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in developing customer opportunities.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly when preparing quotations, costings and orders.
  • Experience working with technical information, drawings and CAD.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both customers and internal technical teams.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to take ownership of your work.
  • A practical attitude and willingness to get hands-on with equipment.

We’re looking for someone who is technically credible, commercially minded and confident with people.

Composite experience would be a significant advantage. Knowledge of Direct Infusion, RTM or other advanced composite manufacturing processes would be highly beneficial.

Experience with industrial equipment, manufacturing processes or other specialist technical equipment would also be relevant.

Why join us?

Our Business Development team plays a central role in the company.

This isn’t simply a role where you’ll prepare quotations and hand opportunities over. You’ll work directly with customers, help develop technical solutions, work with our engineering teams and see projects through to real-world equipment.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop your technical and commercial capability, build strong customer relationships and gain a broad understanding of our products, processes and markets.

We’re looking for someone who brings experience, confidence and technical credibility, but who is also commercially curious, practical and willing to get involved.

If you’re an experienced technical professional who enjoys solving customer problems, working with people and seeing technical solutions become real equipment, we’d like to hear from you.
